IRIS VAN HERPEN IS LAUNCHING A READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION

Dutch designer Iris van Herpen, who is famous for her futuristic and outspoken designs has revealed that she's expanding her current couture-collection with a ready-to-wear collection. The deisgner of for instance Björk and Lady Gaga, took 5 years to work on her technique and materials. The wearable collection is made of innovative materials, such as laser-cut plexiglass and leather treated lace and foil. The 28 year old talent is going to launch her new collection named "Phy-tha-go-rash" next month, and it's inspired by a Dutch book of artist Bruno Ernst.
Van Herpen says: "It is really an extension of my couture line. For haute couture you are more concerned for the body to transform. The ready-to-wear collection you want the dress with the body flow. And it must be comfortable." Furthermore, she says that it is not the intention that women have to feel like Lady Gaga or Bjork. "I would not change a person's identity or how she feels."
The prices of clothing vary between 600 and 7120 euros and will be available at 20 selective retailers worldwide.
I can't wait to see the whole collection. I'm a big fan of her work! It's really beautiful to see all the details Van Herpen makes in her clothing, and I'm curious if that's the same with her new ready-to-wear collection.

GALLIANO'S COMEBACK WITH OSCAR DE LA RENTA

The much discussed designer John Galliano is staying for three weeks in the designer-studio of Oscar de la Renta to work on his comeback. De le Renta offered Galliano some help, to get in back in the fashionworld. But it's not clear yet what they're working on. Oscar de la Renta replied: "John and I have known eachother for years now, and I admire his talent a lot. He worked hard on his recovery and I'm glad I can give him a opportunity to give him some space where he can be creative and work on his comback". The idea came from Anna Wintour, editor in chief of the American Vogue, who is friends with both of the designers.
I think it's great Galliano is working on his comeback, I love his work and he is such a talent. I hope he'll create comething beautiful, and I can't wait to see the result! Let's thank Anna Wintour fir this great idea ;-)

PARIS FASHION WEEK 2013 WITHOUT MCQUEEN

Sad news for all the Alexander McQueen fans, the British fashion-label wont be giving a show at the Paris Fashion Week this March, because designer Sarah Burton will be with maternity leave. She's pregnant with twins and decided not to travel to Paris for Fashion Week. That's too bad, because I adore Alexander McQueen so much, I was so curious to see the new collection. McQueen will have a private presentation on the 5th of March to show the fall/winter collection 2013-2014. But... that's only on invitation for around hundred people. So no McQueen for me ;-) haha
The next spring/summer 2014 collection will be showed on the next Paris Fashion Week, announed Burton.

But here some beautiful Alexander McQueen couture from this season, spring/summer 2013.... Stunning, and what a inspiration!

FOR NICOLA FORMICHETTI; IT'S IN THE BAG

The creative director of Mugler; Nicola Formichetti can multitask like the best. In 2012, the designer styled Lady Gaga, launched his Nicopanda Streetwear Line and guest edited an issue of Dazed & Confused. In a way, on top of that, he still found time to make six collections for Mugler and launch the brand first collection of handbags.
Formichetti designed the purses with style, it's scultural and futuristic aesthetic. Structured top-handle satchels in a variety of leathers and exotic skins, like crocodile and rubber alligator, come with silver hardware accents shaped like talons, while evening clutched have a "weaponlike" appeal.
The bags will be availeble in Barneys New York, opening Ceremony and other select stores from February. The bags are already spotted on the celebrity circuit, on the arms of Kim Kardashian and Gwen Stefani. Naturally, Formichetti is keeping up the pace in 2013. Later this month, Mugler will present their pre-fall collection and unveil a whole new batch of accessories.
